Dick Truitt
Dick Truitt, a nationally-known speech and content writer, has worked with a dozen chief executives of major corporations and nonprofit organizations, including (Honeywell, Kimberly-Clark, Hallmark Cards, GTE, Delta Air Lines and CARE). He also has written position and policy papers, and annual report letters. As a contract writer, he wrote speeches for three state governors and two former U. S. Presidents.
The Connecticut-based Truitt has published three books, including one professional book under his own name, “Strategic Public Relations Counseling,” which was used extensively for many years as a college text. He taught journalism and writing as an adjunct associate professor at New York University and also has taught writing courses at numerous public relations firms and advertising agencies.
Truitt, who holds a master’s degree in journalism from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, has also worked as an editor and reporter for the Chicago Tribune. During a 40-year business career, he served as president of two of the nation’s largest PR firms, Doremus & Co., and Carl Byoir & Associates.
